What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Coordinator (Evening) 27247 position at Purdue University?
As the EVENT COORDINATOR, you will work in Purdue Memorial Union Event Services to follow basic set-up and standard procedures.
- Responsible for setting up meeting and banquet rooms for special events. This will include moving furniture and equipment, and occasional heavy lifting.
- Communicate routine problems, notify supervisors of unusual problems, and respond to requests for extra furnishings.
- Oversee the preparation of meeting and banquet facilities for scheduled events and work in collaboration with the Events Office Staff, Union Club Hotel Staff, and the client to ensure setups are to customer specification.

Pay is $15.00/hr (plus $0.45 shift differential) for a total of $15.45/hr
Required:
- High School Diploma/GED
- One year of service work, event setup, or related experience
- Stable work history
- Strong attention to detail
- Work standards and productivity, decision making, and dependability
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural relations and communication skills
- Basic mathematics skills and delegation while planning
- Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally
- Ability to climb stairs, stand, walk, reach, and stoop extensively
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds
Preferred:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Six months of custodial, service worker, housekeeping, or janitorial experience
- A valid US or Canadian driver’s license
