Internal Communications Specialist - Marketing and Communications

Job Summary

Purdue Marketing and Communications, the 2020 American Marketing Association’s Higher Ed Marketing Team of the Year and the innovative team behind Purdue being the only university named by Fast Company to its inaugural list of Brands That Matters, is looking for an Internal Communications Specialist to produce informative and engaging stories for internal communication vehicles, including Purdue Today, the University's official e-newsletter for faculty and staff.
Under the direction of Director, the Internal Communications Specialist will report, research and conduct interviews to produce targeted content for faculty and staff, as well as expanded features on University employees, teaching, operations and student activities. The Internal Communications Specialist will assist in crafting content for social channels and assist with creation and distribution of the Purdue Today e-newsletter.
Required:

• Bachelor's degree in communications, writing or related field
• One (1) year of experience (can include internships) in writing or communications
• Must have excellent storytelling skills in writing articles and content for social media
• Ability to maintain a consistent voice and audience focus in writing
• Ability to streamline verbose content to the focus on the main message in a concise, effective manner
• Consistent quality control in work
• Strong organizational abilities, including time and resource management
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external constituents
• Ability to work quickly
• Eagerness to share and promote the outstanding work being done at Purdue
• Demonstrate proficient expertise in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to become proficient in other software
• Proficiency in AP Style
