Job Summary
Purdue Veterinary Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic Veterinary Assistant to support our Small Animal Primary Care service! Small Animal Primary Care is a general veterinary medical practice operating within the Small Animal Hospital at Purdue University’s Veterinary Hospital. Our practice serves our patients, clients and students as a real-world working model of excellence in compassionate, progressive, and full-service primary veterinary care for small animals and exotics.
Veterinary Assistants will be responsible for patient care (walking, feeding, and cleaning), patient restraint for physical exams, blood draws, and procedures as well as good organizational skills to help with clinic area supplies and stocking. All members of the team are respected for their knowledge and experience and recognized for their contributions of educating students and helping us to provide fantastic patient care.

Required:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations
- Ability to read and write in English
- Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally
- Must have solid skills handling horses, cattle, and other farm animals
S1 requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Two years of relevant work experience (experience in a veterinary hospital setting and/or customer service experience)
S2 requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Three years of relevant work experience (experience in a veterinary hospital setting and/or customer service experience)
Preferred:
- NAVTA Veterinary Assistant certificate
- Specialty veterinary experience
- Previous stocksmanship and/or equestrian work
Additional Information:
- All new hires will be expected to follow Protect Purdue guidelines
