What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Director position at PURE Academy?
PURE Academy is a college-preparatory private boarding school, which provides a personalized learning environment. Academics, social-emotional learning, and athletics are interwoven in a collaborative approach to give each student the necessary tools to become a successful college student, and productive member of our community.
The Development Director is a critical part of the organization. They develop and implement strategies to expand the network of individuals and businesses investing in PURE Academy, as well as meet annual operating and capital fundraising targets. The Development Director will be responsible for donor relations management and activities, donor and fundraising events, and other special initiatives, as assigned. This role will work with PURE leadership, staff, and Board of Directors to align with the organization’s mission and vision. This role is in Memphis, Tennessee, and will require some nights and weekends as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, implement, and evaluate organization’s annual development plan
- Working with Executive Director and the Board to identify, develop, and nurture relationships with new and existing donors
- Develop an annual development calendar that aligns with the organization’s fundraising priorities
- Plan, coordinate, and implement donor fundraising, recognition, and cultivation events
- Collaborate with communications and PR vendors, consultants, and volunteers to develop media plans for maximizing development/event impact; development/event material content in keeping with agency branding; development/event-related copy for website and social media; online fundraising pages; and e-communications
- Maintain database with relevant contact and donor information, continually updating and correcting database information to maintain accuracy
- Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports, analyzing trends and identifying opportunities, to maximize fundraising
- Provide monthly updates to the Board and relevant committees of progress toward goals
- Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate, foundation, and individual donors
- Coordinate productions and mailings of newsletter(s), event mailings, and year-end correspondence
- Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence
- Partner with Executive Director and Board to conceptualize, manage, and monitor fundraising
campaigns
- Manage donor and prospect engagement activities, including campus visits
- Identify and implement best practices for stewardship planning and execution
- Support Board development and event committees by developing agendas with respective Board Chair, distributing agendas prior to meetings via Slack, taking meeting notes, loading meeting notes onto Slack following meetings, and managing action item undertaken by the committees
- Ensure Board members, prospects, donors, and volunteers are actively and constructively engaged and maintain a positive experience in working with PURE
- In partnership with Board committee chairs, manage the production of all PURE fundraising events, including corporate sponsorships, event logistics, participants and special guests, vendor relationships, thematic elements, data management, mailings, printed materials, and volunteer coordination.
- Engage, recruit, train and manage relationships with community volunteers to ensure successful events and fundraising projects
- Work with leadership, staff, and Board to identify programmatic opportunities for donor
engagement
- Provide support for all other activities and programs required to meet and exceed PURE Academy’s annual fundraising goals
- Perform other duties or special projects/initiatives as required.
OTHER DUTIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
● Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field
● Two (2) years of professional experience
● Experience in fundraising, sales, non-profits, or related field preferred
● Event planning experience preferred
