What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forge position at Pursuit?

GENERAL DESCRIPTION STATEMENT : Perform coating operations on slugs, preforms, and blades. Operate and maintain snag and swirl polish machines to remove forging irregularities.
Assistance may be given other operators on proper operational procedures.
Perform housekeeping and other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Some work assignments require special protective clothing such as face shields, aprons and gloves. All area requires safety glasses and steel toe shoes.
Follow and maintain all safety procedures to insure the safest possible work environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
1.Operate and maintain snag and swirl polish machines to remove forging irregularities from slugs, preforms or blades. Change belts, wheels, and collets to accommodate type of shape of parts worked on.
Where applicable, load holding fixture and manually manipulate racking arms to oscillate work against abrasive. Use fixed and dial indicator gages to check stock removal.
2.Provide heater service to Preform operator by loading, positioning and withdrawing pieces from furnace to press. Assist operator in set-ups and tool change as required.
Be attentive to cycle times and operation of furnace. Call out any discrepancies to operator.
3.Provide trim service to instrument press operator by positioning and withdrawing pieces from trim die. Be attentive to the operation of the trim and insure the safest possible work environment.
4.Visually inspect forging to desired finish and surface condition.
5.Periodically move large loaded tubs with manual dolly or electric lift truck and replace with empty containers.
6.Read and interpret blueprints, factory routers, sketches and drawings, MSDS sheets and safety related information.
7.Follow verbal and written instruction as contained in process procedures, metal finishing sheets and other control documents to perform the coating operation.
8.Coating solutions must be made-up, racks stripped and coating equipment cleaned.
9.Apply shop math skills.
10. Some work assignments require special protective clothing such as aprons, and protective gloves. All areas require safety glasses and safety shoes.
Train other Forge Utility personnel in proper procedures, methods and techniques.
12.A high degree of attentiveness to process details and equipment is required. Deviations to required parameters and procedures as well as equipment malfunction must be reported to the supervisor.
13.Subject to long periods of standing.
14.Intermittently use wrenches, small tongs, and powered hand tools. Periodically transport production materials (i.e. WIP, parts, tools equipment, salvage material, scrap, and waste) to the next operation or designated location throughout the facility utilizing a powered industrial truck, powered industrial walk-behind, or pallet jack.
Must report to work on a regular and consistent basis and be able to work an entire shift.
- Able to repeatedly lift 50 pounds throughout the shift.
- Maintain logs, inspection sheets, and various other paperwork as required by Pursuit Aerospace and its customers.
19.Take part in audits administered by internal and external (customer) auditors as required to establish the effectiveness of training.
