Systems Engineer (T&E)

We have an immediate opening for a Systems Engineer to build out, maintain and troubleshoot a AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System. Candidate must be equipped and able to work as part of a highly-skilled and multi-functional, multi-disciplined team in order to maintain program readiness, as well as support various teams in a dynamic and rapid expanding environment.

This position will serve as part of a team of engineers who collectively demonstrate excellent technical competence, reliability in delivering mission-critical infrastructure, and who continually ensure the highest levels of accessibility, optimization, and security.  This opportunity provides unique exposure to multiple software and hardware baselines from legacy systems to state-of-the-art Submarine Combat Control platforms.

This position develops a well-rounded, advanced level of knowledge of systems administration, network administration, software and hardware troubleshooting, and process documentation.  The System Engineer performs all necessary test and evaluation, milestones, test events, platform builds for the submarine fleet, and high-visibility development builds for testing cutting edge systems.  The System Engineer position carries a high level of exposure, and commands focus, flexibility, and the desire to continuously learn from each its team members.

• Participation in Systems Engineering and Test & Evaluation (T&E) milestones including TRR, SDCT, SDVR, DRR
• Obtain SME level of knowledge on assigned Capability Items or areas.
• Review applicable test shift reports and contractor OQE.
• Follow up on actions and issues.
• Liaison with contractor test personnel to coordinate and resolve T&E issues and events.
• Monitoring and verifying build status and content.
• Resolving and verifying PTR fixes.
• Contractor and government test events.
• Test execution, participation, witness, and oversight.
• To include off shift and potential weekend support.
• Conduct testing, perform analysis, and PTR reporting
• Resolution of test program comments, issues, and activities
• Review and update of test tools, including generation of test checklists and scenarios
• Development of test procedures and scenarios
• PTR V&V
• Includes KIA analysis, impact assessment, V&V
• Deployed Systems issue investigation
• OAT system operability impact verification and assessment
• Provide support to the System Note and Integration and Test Working Groups
• Participate in the System Note & Integration and Test Working Groups, Test Procedure Review Board, and other work groups as required.
• Support Plan of the Day / Tactical Control Board (TCS) Library Change Request (LCR) Review Board (LRB) / Legacy Weapons Control System WCS Configuration Control Board (CCB).

• Four year degree in Engineering or a closely related field (physics, Math, Operations Research, etc).
• Level III in T&E can be accepted as a “closely related field”.
• Four years of experience in developmental or operational T&E of tactical US Naval vessels, weapons, software or systems.
• Proven ability to successfully and efficiently monitor systems.

• Strong background in IT, computer systems engineering or systems engineering and analysis.
• Ability to manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
• Continual maintenance of security, including backup and redundancy strategies.
• Desire to work alongside the team to help design information and operational support systems.
• Excellence in communication as a liaison with contractor and government personnel to resolve issues.
• Desire to work alongside the team to help design information and operational support systems.
• Must possess an intimate understanding of security practices in relation to working with classified material, proper handling of classified material, need to know, Operational Security and Information Security.
• Travel is optional based on opportunity. Travel requirement could be 10%.

Candidate must have or be able to obtain a government security clearance to the level of SECRET.
