The Aerial Lineman builds and maintains aerial telephone systems which can consist of aerial and underground facilities.

Physical and Environmental Factors:
- Ability to work outdoors and to work in all types of outdoor weather.
- Ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, twist, stoop, push, pull, carry, and lift as needed.
- Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet, and limbs in performing skilled movement.
- Ability to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Planning and initiating projects.
- Interaction with customers, utility owners and governmental officials.
- Establishing and conforming to OSHA and customer safety requirements.
- Assist in the construction of new aerial and underground services and service upgrades.
- Supervising Aerial Groundman.
- Training and mentoring of new employees assigned to job.
- Tree trimming or route clearing.
- Use of care of specialized hand tools.
- Use and care of required equipment.
- Operating heavy equipment such as Digger and Bucket Truck.
Requirements:
- Must have a thorough knowledge of electricity, pole-line materials, the proper and safe use of tools and equipment used in line construction and maintenance, know RUS Construction Specifications, be familiar with the Aerial Safety Codes and Practices, and work methods associated with aerial line work.
- Possess a valid Class A CDL, preferred.
- Have an acceptable safety record.
- Have demonstrated leadership and teamwork capabilities.
- Be willing to be available for emergency outages and travel to distant locations for projects.
