What are the responsibilities and job description for the OSP Fiber Splicer – Greensboro Area position at PUSH, Inc.?
The OSP Fiber Splicer will be responsible for assisting the team to complete projects, meet deadlines, and exceed customers’ expectations. The OSP Fiber Splicer’s primary job function will be splicing and troubleshooting outside plant fiber optic cable, both aerial and underground.

Physical and Environmental Factors:
· Ability to lift 50 lbs.
· Ability to work extended hours and potential nights and weekends.
· Ability to work in confined spaces, trailers, central offices.
· Ability to work outdoors, splicing tents, aerial platforms, and all terrain.
· Ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, twist, stoop, push, pull, carry and lift as needed.
· Ability to distinguish colors in various lighting conditions.
· Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet, and limbs in performing skilled movements, such as keyboard use or splicing and testing equipment.
· Must be willing to travel and for extended periods of time, dependent on project.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
· Fusion or mechanical splicing outside plant fiber, both single mode and multi-mode, especially large count fiber (e.g., 48, 96, 144, 288, etc.).
· Read diagrams (e.g., splicing matrices) and OSP maps/blueprints to successfully splice new builds or troubleshoot on maintenance or emergency call outs.
· Troubleshooting fiber links with OTDRs.
· Display knowledge of cable size, gauge, count, and color codes
· Ring cut and splice in mid sheath as needed.
· Operate a bucket truck safely and work within a fiber splicing trailer.
· Communicate with NOC personnel and report to the manager.
· Workday and or night shifts and occasional overnight travel.
· Work as a team with other crew members
· Maintain company equipment.
· Ensure acceptable testing and turn-over of splicing on time.
· Maintain accurate records.
· Continuous focus on safety.
· Responsible for upkeep and maintaining company vehicle, inventory, and small tools.
· Mentor and train future fiber splicers.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- Education: Specific Technical Training, preferred.
- Work Experience: Two years of experience working as an OSP Fiber Splicer.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity of various splicing machines, OTDR’s, power meters and other associated equipment required.
Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License, Class A CDL preferred.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings.
- Skilled in fiber optic splicing.
- Proficient with fusion splice machines.
- Proficient with fiber testing equipment.
- Demonstrate ability to read blueprints and maps.
- Knowledge of cable size, gauge, count, and colors of direction.
· Ability to read, comprehend and even prepare all job-related work reports (i.e., red-lined cable plans, throw sheets, test results, etc.)
· Computer skills.
