What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Analytics position at Pushpay?

Our Director of Analytics will oversee the Data Science and Business Insights teams, and will work closely with the Data Engineering team.  As our Director of Analytics, you will drive outcomes to measure business performance at all levels, from team metrics, to executive/strategic measurements, to essential metrics for our board of directors.  

What you’ll do

  • Lead the Business Insights and Data Science teams in adoption of best practices
  • Work with stakeholders to understand Pushpay’s business strategy and needs, translate that strategy into a vision for BI & Data Science, and proactively define and execute on a plan to achieve that vision
  • Collaborate with others to create a single source of truth for data, ensuring agreed upon definitions, semantic layers and a common foundation
  • Work with Data Engineering to build and maintain a data lake and dashboards, visualizations and ad-hoc reporting, analyses, and data processing
  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of multiple scalable BI and data solutions supporting internal/external stakeholders
  • Develop agile feedback loop mechanisms supporting the evaluation of new initiatives, measuring process effectiveness and providing recommendations for improved end state

You will love this job if

  • You have 8 years 
    • in relevant experience as a business intelligence engineer, full stack intelligence analyst, data scientist, data engineer, Financial Planning & Analysis or equivalent
    • of experience with advanced SQL (query optimization, data processing (ETL/ELT) and analytical functions)
    • of experience with schema design and dimensional modeling
  • You excel at navigating ambiguity, creating structure and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • You enjoy thinking strategically, being proactive and building consensus
  • You are a collaborator at heart. You like to work with others from consensus building with stakeholders to ralling your teams around data-driven long-range plans to nourishing healthy and strong relationships with others
  • You are a highly effective communicator
    • You can clearly “tell the story” with data, tailor it to your audience
    • You are a great listener and really understand what others are communicating 
  • You appreciate the value of teamwork. You will be managing technical teams, ensuring stakeholder needs are understood, projects are prioritized, and timelines are defined, monitored and met. 
  • You are proficient in using modern business intelligence reporting tools
  • You have experience with scripting languages supporting automation, data manipulation and basic mathematical computations, MMP databases, and data warehousing
