Our Independence Consulting team consists of five sub teams focused on the applicability of external regulations and PwC independence policy related to: 1) the permissibility of non-audit services to restricted entities; 2) matters related to personal independence; 3) affiliate determinations, partner rotations and other such matters related to assurance clients; 4) Joint Business Relationship rules/policies; and, 5) violations/breaches of any of these regulations and policies by PwC staff and partners.

This position provides critical leadership and support to PwC Business Segments and their clients on matters relating to the provision of audit and non-audit services and the applicable independence rules resulting from these engagements.

4 year(s) of prior audit client service experience in a Big 4 accounting firm environment, or independence related experience with a professional services organization.

Demonstrates extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success managing efforts with identifying and addressing client needs including the following:
- Consulting with professionals throughout the US firm and the global firm regarding the application of the independence rules set established by the SEC, AICPA, PCAOB and IFAC, specific to breach reporting communications and requirements and related independence considerations including affiliate definitions, personal independence, non-audit services, and other miscellaneous considerations;
- Participating in independence policy related projects as well as developing or reviewing policy documents and training materials pertaining to independence;
- Conducting independence consultations that address inquiries and involve detail-oriented reviews of breach letters received from audit and project engagement teams as well as participating in independence policy updates;
- Leading, coaching and developing other team members;
- Participating on special projects both in support of Firm initiatives and the Independence Office (IO), including supporting regulator driven projects;
- Working closely with and supporting other team leaders and team members within IO on consultations or projects involving cross or multiple lines of service;
- Developing and maintaining working relationships with other OFRO teams within the broader OFRO organization and becoming the focal point of contact for independence questions that may arise;
- Reviewing draft policies and procedures pertaining to Independence; and,
- Reviewing and editing internal and external presentations and documents from an independence perspective.
