Position Summary
The Professional Women’s Hockey League for our PWHL Boston team is seeking an experienced and passionate individual for our open Goalie Coach position. The Goalie Coach is responsible for delivering hockey skills and athletic development instruction both on- and off-ice by actively participating and running on-ice practices and skills sessions, reviewing and discussing game performance with athletes, assessing goalie-specific statistics and film, and creating individualized athlete development plans. The position works closely with all contracted team goalies and provides in-practice instruction to promote real-time skill development during periods of high shot volume. The Goalie Coach works as an element of an integrated team of coaches, influencing team practice plans to optimize goalie development, while also running independent goalie sessions for individualized development.

Duties & Responsibilities
In-Game Support
- Set up video feed on game day and live-tag game with coded events in real-time.
- Provide immediate video replays, clips, and analysis to coaching staff during gameplay.
- Understand league rules to support in-game decisions and play challenges.
- Assist coaching staff in challenging reviewable plays in-game.
- Assist in making adjustments to game strategies based on in-game video insights.
- Identify key tendencies, strategies, strengths, and weaknesses of opposing teams and players.
- Collaborate with coaching staff to create and prepare pre-game scouting reports for each opponent.
- Present scouting reports to coaching staff and team.
- Organize and catalog video clips by game, period, situation/event, and player.
- Consolidate and analyze video clips and create presentations for individual and team video sessions.
- Prepare and provide full team and individual performance reports (Stat Packs) from game video.
- Create and maintain a master goalie shot chart for the season.
- Analyze player techniques, positioning, decision-making, and overall gameplay.
- Collaborate with coaches to create development plans based on video analysis.
- Prepare game cards for coaching staff prior to games.
- Submit line charts and starting lineups for games according to league rules.
- Prepare and post line charts, scouting materials, and practice plans for team.
- Maintain video equipment and troubleshoot as needed.
- Setup and maintain analytics applications according to coaching staff and management needs.
- 5 years of coaching or playing hockey at professional or collegiate level i required
- Experience planning and deploying goalie practices and skills sessions that maximize skill and IQ development
- Proficiency in goalie skills and techniques, including the ability to physically demonstrate such skills and techniques
- Proven record of competitive success
- Proven ability to coach and produce outcomes for different playing styles
- Ability to articulate development strategy and associate strategy to prior tangible outcomes
- Ability to create and measure individualized development plans and metrics
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent standards of professionalism in attitude, interactions, and approach
- Preferred knowledge of hockey analytics applications such as SportLogiq, Hudl InStat, and others
- Supports diversity and respect in the workplace and community; and
- Ability to act with patience and diplomacy and foster a cooperative team environment.
- Must be able to attend all practices and games from November to May.
- Must be able to travel to all games during the season
