Summary: The chef manages the kitchen of a Silver Line inpatient facility to prepare and cook meals for each client. Responsibilities include planning a daily menu that includes options for special dietary restrictions, preparing lunch and dinner for clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Training and supervising food service staff
• Preparing gourmet meals for clients
• Ability to prepare gluten free, organic, vegan, and specialty meals
• Organize food storage areas and keep clean
• Ordering food and supplies for kitchen
• Work with food service vendor on menu planning and cost control
• Consistent monitoring temperatures on all equipment
• Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen in compliance with all health codes
• Ensure good personal hygiene for self as well as food service staff
• Be able to manage portion control
Supervisor Responsibilities
Supervision of all dietary staff at facility/program
Scheduling responsibilities of all positions
Required Qualifications
Licensure, Education, & Experience
• Prior dietary experience or training; willingness to learn and attend required facility trainings
• SERVSAFE Training
• Knowledge of applicable regulations
• Prefer registered dietician or someone with a background in nutritional health
• At least one year experience cooking in food service industry as a Chef required
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb stairs, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, twist, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds. The employee must seldom carry up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
