Nurse Practitioner Job Description (Urgent Hire)
We are looking to add a traveling licensed Nurse Practitioner to our growing infusion team. Your primary responsibility will be to provide professional Intravenous Infusions (IV), Intravenous Push (IVP), and Injections (Sub-Q, IM) administration and nursing care to clinic patients in Pyramids owned facilities and our managed physician's office-based infusion centers. Travel is required.
JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Critical-Thinking Skills: Infusion nurses will need to assess a patient's health, as well as to detect changes in symptoms, health or pain, and will need to know when action is necessary.
- Compassion: Nurses help people. You will need to be sympathetic to a patient's needs, and be able to deal with people in various states of pain, trauma, and tragedy.
- Attention to Detail: Infusion nurses administer medicines and work with specific treatments that, if wrong could prove fatal. Attention to detail is crucial.
- Organizational Skills: Infusion nurses will face multiple patients, with differing needs, stages of health and risks. Being organized and knowing how to prioritize will be helpful.
- Calm Under Pressure: Infusion nurses might face emergency, life-or-death situations. Being able to function in the heat of emergencies will be necessary.
- Patience: Giving care under stressful circumstances requires patience.
- Communication Skills: You will be communicating directly with patients who are scared, in pain or in shock. Families will have questions and want answers. You will need to be a patient listener and good communicator to help keep everyone calm and help them understand the situation
Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities:
- Record patient medical histories and symptoms in Weinfuse
- Schedule reoccurring appointments
- Complete nursing notes
- Order, administer and analyze diagnostic tests.
- Detect changes in a patient’s health and change treatment plans as necessary.
- Administer medicines and treatments.
- Evaluate responses to treatments and medications.
- Consult with healthcare professionals.
- Train patients and families on managing illnesses or injuries and disease prevention.
Nurse Practitioner Requirements:
- Master’s degree from an accredited nursing program.
- Must have RN licensure in the state where employed or a compact party state and be board certified by either ANCC or AANP.
- Must have prescriptive authorization.
- APN authorization in the state where employed to practice in Family Health by the Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Must be proficient with medical instruments and equipment required by the work.
- Knowledge of computer-based data management programs and information systems, as well as medical records and point-of-interview technology.
- Ability to communicate effectively, in verbal and written form, with retail and medical partners at various levels, patients, family members, physicians and representatives of the community.
- Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations including HIPAA and OSHA.
- Experience providing primary care as a family nurse practitioner.
- Knowledge of disease prevention.
Preferred Nurse Practitioner Requirements:
- Credentialed with major payers.
- Ability to work at multiple locations.
- Bilingual English/Spanish
