As a member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for the general care and maintenance of assigned areas and equipment. Your day-to-day interactions will vary and no two days are alike. Additional duty areas for the maintenance staff will include semiskilled maintenance work requiring performance of tasks associated with the electrical, plumbing, building, and mechanical trades.


Schedule:

  • Full-time
  • Monday-Friday with an on-call rotation schedule and occasional overtime (and ability to work weekends and holidays, as required by maintenance priorities, machine installation schedules, and unforeseen emergencies)

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, and repair electrical power, communications, lighting, and control systems
  • Confidently apply the appropriate hand/power tools, electric and volt meters, and material handling equipment to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair/replace
  • Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, window, door or wall repair
  • Use your technical know-how and mechanical aptitude to diagnose and troubleshoot problems and replace or repair parts
  • Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures
  • Maintaining the building HVAC equipment in order to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly
  • Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems, such as using a sealant on a flat roof
  • Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
  • Proactively perform regular preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment and facilities to ensure they are up to standards
  • Collect, analyze and summarize maintenance-related information and trends to drive efficiencies, streamline processes, and support business decisions

Required Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Electrical wiring capabilities to manage problems with the building’s electricity
  • Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building
  • Groundskeeping of outdoor areas in need of maintenance
  • Plumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs or other drainage problems
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with other team members and residents in a pleasant manner
  • Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked
  • Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on the building
  • Ability to work in tight and/or elevated locations (lifts, rooftops, ladders)
  • Knowledge or past experience with HealthCare Life Safety Codes and requirements (Preferred)
  • Driver's License (Required)

  • Must be able to work in hot, humid, and cold environments
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces
  • Must be able to distinguish among colors.
  • Must be able to stand for 6 hours per shift
  • Must be able to walk for 6 hours per shift
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to reach and grasp
  • Must have adequate balance and ability to climb ladders

Flu Considerations: Annual flu vaccine is required during flu season. If needed, we will provide vaccination at QLI, free of charge.
