What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical/Mechanical Technician position at Quad?
Quad is seeking an Electrical/Mechanical Technician for our Winchester, VA plant.
Proper upkeep and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment within the plant including: performing equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, set-up and calibrate some electronic equipment, and equipment improvements as needed, troubleshooting electrical problems associated with plant wiring and production equipment, and assisting mechanics in performing mechanical troubleshooting and repairs. Other duties will include performing gear, cylinder, bearing repairs, replacing worn components, equipment set-up and mechanical timing of equipment, and performing periodic maintenance checks.
Applicants must have a High School Diploma, and a minimum of 3 years experience as an industrial maintenance technician or similar position. Courses from trade school in basic electrical, motor controls, relay logic, plumbing, pneumatics, hydraulics, and blue print reading. Must have an understanding of components such as bearings, clutches, gears, belted and shafted drives and pneumatic systems. Must be able to work safely in an electrical cabinet with minimum supervision. Candidate must have good communication and record keeping skills. Basic computer and typing skills are a required.
Must be able to use analog and digital multimeters, amp probes, megger, oscilloscope, as well as other electrical test equipment. Must be able to troubleshoot electrical and electronics circuits. Must have troubleshooting skills in relay logic and PLC based I.O. systems as well as 480 bolt 3 phase plant wiring. Experience with PLC programming is also required. Ability to provide a set of basic mechanical and electrical hand tools and possess the ability to safety operate and maintain power tools.
Overtime will be mandatory at times. Occasionally unexpected breakdowns will require working on non-normal work shifts. Overtime will be expected during seasonal times of Preventative Maintenance work. Applicants should be highly motivated individuals willing to work rotating 12 hour shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Experience preferred in printing maintenance and/or machine shop.
