Safety Manager Job Purpose: The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and compliance of Quarles' safety programs, policies and procedures. The Health & Safety manager will also inspect, audit, and assist locations in complying with Federal, State, Local, and Company polices. This is a proactive role working to improve physical conditions and associate behaviors to ensure Quarles has a safe, healthy, and incident free work environment.
JOB DUTIES:
- Oversee and ensure compliance and timely reporting of all OSHA/MSHA, DOT, FMCSA, HazMat, and NFPA regulations pertaining to operations while maintaining awareness of any amendments to those regulations and its impact on operations
- Manage all aspects of the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Program
- Develop, maintain, and proactively deliver educational materials and training that helps improve safety, including DOT, NFPA, OSHA/MSHA, HazMat, and company safety training programs
- Develop, administer, and maintain all aspects of company safety policies and procedures, including incident response and reporting
- Lead Quarles Safety Committee efforts, including incident investigation, best practice sharing, in-cab safety video review, demerit point administration, and safe associate reward and recognition programs
- Conduct on-site reviews and audits of all operational locations as well as safety audits compliance with DOT regulations
- Develop and maintain compliance programs around petroleum industry programs such as Cathodic Protection, Tank Inspections, Gas and Leak Checks, etc.
- Provide reports and updates to executive management team regarding any safety issues, new programs, and regulation changes
- Ensures that safety technology tools are used and those results are examined, trend data is analyzed, and plans are developed to reduce and then prevent future safety incidents
- Additional duties as assigned by management
SKILLS: Interested Applicants should possess:
Strong Leadership Skills, Quality Focus, Problem Solving, Office Equipment and Microsoft Office Product Knowledge. Prior experience with commercial fleet, industrial safety and health experience preferred. In depth knowledge of OSHA/MSHA, DOT, NFPA, and HazMat regulations. Previous experience in petroleum/delivered fuels preferred. Previous experience in transport required.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree and eight plus years of progressively responsible safety position with experience in petroleum industry preferred component

- Hours of operation: Department is staffed M F from 8:00am 5:00pm, but role requires flexibility to respond to incidents outside of regular business hours
