WHAT WILL YOU DO?

As the Director of Engineering, Systems Development, you will lead and oversee, the performance of a multi-disciplinary engineering team within the Systems Development business sector.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide comprehensive personnel management over a multi-disciplinary engineering group within a matrix organization
  • Lead by example, setting clear expectations, consistent communication, and reinforcing a culture of ownership and accountability
  • Make decisions regarding resource planning, allocations, hiring, terminations, employee relations, training, etc.
  • Manage and develop staff to achieve department objectives
  • Foster the continued professional and technical development of the staff through mentoring, education, and training
  • Participate as a technical and/or programmatic lead/contributor on proposals and projects as-needed
  • Provide top level customer support to resolve elevated technical issues
  • Grow a wide network of clients and partners across the broader optical systems community leveraging current personal relationships, existing Quartus relationships, and newly developed relationships
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies, etc.

 

WHO IS RIGHT FOR THE JOB?

A successful Director of Engineering will be a self-directed personnel manager with business and technical acumen who has demonstrated success cultivating customer relationships, leading, communicating, and influencing cross-functional teams.

 

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • BS/MS Engineering – Aerospace, Optical, Mechanical, Electrical (or a similar discipline)
  • 10 years of experience managing complex engineering projects in a research and development (or low volume manufacturing) environment
  • 10 years directly managing employees
  • Industry experience in one or more of the following areas: Aerospace, Electro-Mechanical Systems, Robotics, Optical Systems
  • Industry experience in a design and prototype (or low volume) manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build client rapport, debate constructively possible solution sets, challenge client thinking, create tailored solutions, and drive closure

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Consumer product or aerospace industry experience, specifically relative to the development of optical systems
