JOB SUMMARY
Under supervision, is responsible for providing personal support for children who have additional or special needs. Position is responsible for direct organization of a variety of recreation services and activities, including but not limited to indoor and outdoor recreation programs, camps, sporting events, club house operations and special events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide personal support for children who have additional or special needs.
Set up and clean up before and after assigned recreation activities, programs, and events.
Lead or assist with games and activities to include score and clock keeping, special events, movie nights, etc.
Assist groups in planning and carrying out program activities.
Prepare craft activity materials.
Responsible for cash handling and adhering to the cash handling policy.
Responsible for providing host duties, handling of pre-packaged foods and beverages.
Accompany participants on hikes, field trips and outside activities.
Provide cordial, responsive, and accurate customer service.
Adhere to safety guidelines to prevent injuries.
Supervise youth participants through daily program activities enforcing program rules and Youth Camp Standards.
Provide assistance to the Recreation Leader II and III with a variety of recreation activities, programs and events.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must be at least 16* years old or have a At least one year of experience working with youth in the field of parks and recreation, physical education, childcare, or a related field OR At least six months of experience working with persons with disabilities.
- Age restriction is based on COMAR regulations for working with children in camp settings.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CPR and First Aid preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers, handle, feel objects, tools or controls; reach with arms and talk and hear. Required to lift, reach, stoop, bend, and stand.
