JOB SUMMARY:
- Manage and oversee the regional logistics operational performance and ensure continuous improvement of logistics routes and RSR processes & procedures. Identify opportunities for improvement and elimination of non-value added tasks.
- Support activities of all logistics hubs and BU’s within the region to ensure that all Quest Diagnostics and client established contract requirements (relative to acquiring the specimen) are accomplished. Participates in walkthroughs, observations, inspections, reviews, and logistics group meetings.
- Manage change implementation and control project scope and timeline. Provides direction and coordination of logistics personnel to ensure project progresses with quality. Provides support to logistics teams to ensure that new account set-up, route stop issues, pick-up service and route software analysis are consistently reviewed, updated and optimized.
- Collaborate with BU logistics management, field operations directors, and the National Director of Logistics to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient logistics operational objectives are being accomplished.
- Develop, review and interpret operational reports and metrics used in assessing effectiveness and efficiencies of the business. Measure and report on projects’ performance and success.
- Develop a strong understanding of the design and functions of the national dispatching system (Megasys), and route optimization tool (RiMMS).
- Evaluate root cause analysis, and develop corrective measures for operational continuity.
- Develop and implement recommendations to the DGX Logistics & Transportation leadership team to increase operational effectiveness and improve customer satisfaction.
- Effectively translate and communicate DGX objectives to subordinates. Responsible and/or involved in managing personnel relations, team-building, training, and the performance review process. Involved in the budget and forecasting process, as well as sharing in the P&L responsibility.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Demonstrated understanding of the transportation industry, logistics management systems & procedures
- General knowledge of industry-related issues in transportation, specimen handling, customer support, supply chain management and the use of technology in logistics
- Familiarity with DGX work rules and HR procedures
- Understanding of financial concepts (budget, forecasting and variance analysis) and associated tools
- Proven track record of successful personnel and financial management
- Observe, communicate and replicate best practices across regional logistics network
- Ability to learn and understand and deploy operational processes supported through technology
- Good interpersonal skills: verbal & written communication skills (including presentations to internal groups)
- Experience with analytical techniques to define and solve complex problems
- Must understand root cause analysis and possess problem resolution skills
- Knowledge of project management skills and applications (MS Project & Excel)
- Systematic planning techniques and process to create realistic schedules
- Define, prioritize and monitor goals & objectives
- Ability to multi-task, adapt, cope, and prioritize
- Good analytical, planning, organizational, and communication skills
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Related Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (equivalency = two years transportation supervisory experience per year of education)
- 5-7 years progressive experience in supply chain, logistics or transportation leadership roles and/or a customer support environment

- Travel required (20-35%)
- Six Sigma certification preferred or ability to successfully complete green belt training
- Lean Manufacturing experience preferred
