Essential Duties & Responsibilities
This is a position where you will become accustomed to working as a machine operator and, eventually, work in cold heading.
Perform necessary pre-operation activities on assigned equipment to ensure proper startup and operation. Assigned equipment may include, but is not limited to: Cold Forging machine, Stamping Press machines, Lathes, Milling machines, Grinding machines, Thread Rolling machines, Shot Blast, Oven, etc.
Operate/monitor multiple pieces of assigned equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops, including PM checks, set-up, change overs, troubleshooting, routine inspection of product to customer specifications, and production counts
Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials
Proper record keeping of consumptive tools and dies
Housekeeping and 5S
Assist in preparations and actively participate in IATF16949/ISO/customer audits and keep abreast of best practices and production trends
Continuously improve quality, productivity and safety through feedback
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in machining, tool & die or other related field preferred.
Experience: 2-4 years of experience as a Machine Operator in a high-volume manufacturing environment required. Use of standardized work, lean and 5S is preferred. Must be able to accurately read blueprints, schematics and manuals and use precision measuring instruments to check part tolerances to customer specifications. Must have demonstrated ability to work in a diverse, team environment and work independently.
Functional Competencies: Analytical skills, attention to detail, teamwork, knowledgeable of production processes, mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting and problem solving.
