The Role As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant works closely with the Plant Controller to perform cost accounting functions such as product costing, product manufacturing analysis and inventory valuation. This position is also responsible for the monthly journal entries, monthly reconciliations and performing research on issues identified to ensure a timely and accurate financial close. This position operates on a hybrid schedule in San Diego, CA The Responsibilities Perform various cost accounting functions, including inventory reconciliation, production volume reporting and work order variance analytics and general support of the Operations team Calculate manufacturing labor and overhead rates and perform the standard cost roll annually Maintain global intercompany transfer pricing and roll updates annually Track excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory, calculate provision based on company policy and work with operations to reduce E&O Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries related to cost accounting as required during the month end close process Oversee the cycle count process and cycle count reporting Perform initial financial analysis of monthly reports for presentation to Leadership Create ad hoc financial reports and slide presentations as needed Represent Cost Accounting on teams designed to improve operations and reduce costs Identify process improvements, propose changes to management and implement changes Work with internal and external auditors to answer questions regarding the company's costing process and control environment Support SOX 404 audit procedures related to transactional accounting activities Carry out duties in compliance with established business policies Assist management with special projects, including implementation of new software and processes Performs other work-related duties as assigned The Individual Required Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting Five years related accounting experience Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP Microsoft Excel expertise with advanced knowledge of pivots and formulas Ability to analyze complex data and produce meaningful reports to be used by senior management Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Detail oriented, self-motivated and driven to problem solve Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision or guidance Demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Experience with JD Edwards Preferred Skills: CPA or public accounting experience preferred Three years cost accounting experience The Key Working Relationships Internal partners: Finance Management: to share financial information. Internal customers: to share requested financial information. External partners: External auditors: to share selected financial information The Work Environment The work environment characteristics are typical of an office environment. No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. 25% of time in meetings, working with team, or talking on the phone, 75% of the time at the desk on computer performing tasks or analytical work. Salary Transparency The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including: education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on that facts and circumstances of each case. A salary range for this position is $78,600 - $145,000..
