The RoleAs we continue to grow, as one QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Buyer Planner for our Memphis Distribution Center. The Buyer Planner is responsible for assessing demand, supply, inventory, pricing, quality, and purchases supporting the Memphis Operations. The buying aspects of the position include the creation, maintenance and tracking of purchase orders in Ariba. The candidate will be responsible for achieving productivity goals as well as inventory and service level goals. Oversight of non-conformances and resolution of invoicing issues are essential components of the position. Development and maintenance of relationships with business partners (Operations, Warehouse, Finance, Quality Technical Operations), as well as partnering with the Strategic Sourcing leads and suppliers is essential.
The ResponsibilitiesDevelop material purchase plans, prepares purchase orders for the timely and economical purchase of goods and services with regard for cost, quality, and delivery.
Point of contact to suppliers ensuring purchase order adherence, facilitate expedites/de-expedites.
Establish and maintain appropriate material safety stock levels.
Ariba maintenance of purchase orders, address invoice discrepancies.
Attend daily operation meetings, provide updates as required.
Use of appropriate business systems within Ortho to complete daily tasks.
Proficient in analyzing forecast for warehouse supplies.
Basic knowledge of cost accounting required to predict and explain purchase price variance, as well as accounts payable resolution.
Projection of monthly inventory quantities and dollars, as well as providing details on variances to plan.
Be cognizant of and strictly adhere to all government regulations and requirements of the business, as well as Ortho's internal compliance and GMP guidelines.
Collaborate with business partners in individual and team settings.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Required:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
2 years of relevant experience in a distribution center environment or business.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
High attention to detail is paramount to succeed in this position, as well as strong organizational and time management skills.
Up to 10% travel when necessary - domestic travel to local suppliers.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree in any discipline preferred.
- 4 years of related experience
- Proficient use of and experience with ERP systems, such as SAP, ARIBA, and Manhattan strongly preferred.

The work environment characteristics are representative of an office and manufacturing environment with varying temperature zones . Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines and support of operational goals. Position requires ability to flexibly spend time on the desk, analyzing data, in meetings as well as hand-on as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Salary TransparencyThe salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $53,000.00 - $96,000.00 annually. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays.
