What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder position at R.H. White Construction?
Position Summary:
As a welder engaged in pipeline construction, you will perform welding on high-pressure gas pipelines, often working in extreme weather conditions and on severe slopes.
The posted welding positions are for full time position in which RHW supplies equipment and a vehicle. Hiring Requirements:
- Commitment to the RHW 24/7 Safety Culture.
- High school Diploma or equivalent combination of experience.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Experienced in pipeline/fabrication welding. Welding skills and experience necessary to make welds acceptable to the levels established by the API Standard 1104 Welding of Pipelines and Related Facilities. Welder will be tested every 6 months to prove ability related to API 1104. Welder's welds will be subject to non-destructive testing (radiography) to establish soundness.
- Must be able to attain the necessary Operator Qualifications to conduct work.
- Must be able to successfully complete both the butt weld and full size branch-connection weld on 12 " pipe in accordance with API 1104 requirements.
- Ability to read and understand piping fabrication blueprints, and to fabricate to the exact specifications on the blueprints is required.
- Experience welding repair sleeves, pressure control fittings or hot tap fittings onto high-pressure lines while in service is required.
- Must have the ability to perform all labor-type duties assigned such as shoveling, taping pipe, loading and unloading material, filling and placing sandbags under pipe, pouring concrete, installing flange bolts and tightening bolts and other work required to complete construction and maintenance activities on the gas system.
- Physically, must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; coordinate eye-hand movement; use hands and fingers fully; climb and maintain balance; see and hear well (either naturally or with correction); and stand, stoop, kneel and crouch.
- Ability to obtain DOT medical card and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- OSHA 10 (Company will provide course if needed)
- Must possess a valid unrestricted Driver's License.
