Operations Manager is responsible for leading a team and overseeing daily operations, including vendor setup, negotiations, scheduling, route monitoring, and reporting. This position will also work to grow partner carrier relationships, develop strategy, and ensure that customer needs are being met.
Operations Manager responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Manage daily operations, including leading and developing a team
- Ensure that product/service performance and quality metrics are being achieved
- Create and drive a development plan strategy that successfully allows the organization to meet its monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals and initiatives
- Provide business solutions for customers, and ensure customer and carrier issues are addressed promptly in order to generate positive customer satisfaction
- Operate with profitability in mind, making sound business decisions regarding costs and expenses
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers and company leadership team
- Develop and monitor operational metrics
- Promote team growth, actively participating in the hiring process, training and coaching
- Proactively address team concerns and conflicts
- Maintain high standards for all operational activities
- Address difficult personnel issues, including performance discussions and disciplinary actions
- Develop and maintain relationship with the sales team to facilitate new avenues of growth
- Work after hours and weekends as needed, responding to team and customer needs at all times
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation or other related field of study or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred
- 2 years’ experience in transportation or logistics operations
- 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role leading high performance teams
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with people at all levels of the organization
- Previous experience in multiple aspects of logistics operations preferred
- Working knowledge of the third-party logistics business model
- Previous experience working with McLeod a plus
- Excellent analytical, communication and time management skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to inspire and motivate others to reach and exceed goals
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing unmatched customer service
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; Foreign language skills a plus
