About the Training Strategies Program

Racial Justice Training is a key strategy in our work of transforming institutions, policies, and culture to be racially just. By providing solutions-oriented spaces for learning and strategic alignment, we provide tools, knowledge, and opportunities for organizations and communities to grow collective power necessary to counter structural racism and steward transformative solutions for racial justice.

Housed within the Program Central Office, the Training Strategies team ensures the strategic and political alignment of Race Forward's racial equity trainings and organizational change work across its various departments: Movement Capacity Building, Narrative Arts, and Culture, and Institutional and Sectoral Change. Training Strategies builds and implements systems and infrastructure that support programs in the delivery and facilitation of racial equity trainings and tools, and leads the creation of innovative training content and curricula.

Training Strategies is responsible for Race Forward's centralized intake process and Affiliate Trainers Project - our community of trainers and facilitators who help us deliver our training work.


Position Summary

Reporting to the Training Strategies Director, the Training Strategies Coordinator will provide administrative and systems support to the Training Strategies Team. The Coordinator supports the overall flow of work through:


  • Systems Creation and Maintenance (20%)
    • Create and maintain a calendar of events, trainings, meetings, deadlines, etc.
    • Maintain the electronic filing system and update with new files and projects as needed.
    • Develop strong competency with the Race Forward Salesforce system and provide data and information to the team as needed.
    • Provide the Director of Training Strategies with administrative support.
  • Support Training Strategies Intake, Scoping and Contracting processes (20%)
    • Support with managing the client intake inbox, Asana, and Salesforce.
    • Scheduling intake calls.
    • Support with note taking during the calls.
    • Emailing and following-up with client calls.
    • Lead intake calls with potential clients as needed.
    • Support the scoping and contracting of Training Strategies clients via email and salesforce in coordination with the client and various Race Forward departments
  • Support Training Strategies Client Engagement (25%)
    • Prepare training materials for attendees and trainers.
    • Virtual training support (including providing logistics support to trainers on the day of the training).
    • Support in collecting attendee data of client engagement trainings
    • Lead scheduling, work with venue and caterers for in-person trainings
  • Support the Training Strategies' public trainings (20%)
    • Manage the training inbox including communication around inquiries, requests for refunds, transfers, and scholarships related to the Governing for Racial Equity (GRE) and Decision-making for Racial Equity trainings
    • Process refunds in coordination with the Finance department
    • Virtual training support (including providing logistics support to trainers on the day of the training).
    • Support in collecting and communicating pre and post training evaluation data for the public trainings.
    • Lead scheduling, work with venue and caterers for in-person public trainings
  • Support the Affiliate Trainers' Project (15%)
    • Lead in the contracting and payment of consultants and affiliate trainers.
    • Support Affiliate Trainers meetings and convenings.
  • Skills and Experience
    • Two to three years of administrative/project management experience in a racial justice or social justice setting.
    • Strong project management skills.
    • Excellent computer skills in online platforms and software such as Google Suite and Microsoft office products and project management tools like Asana. Experience with Zoom and Salesforce is preferred but not required.
    • Experience with scheduling and calendar management.
    • Clear and effective oral and written communication.
    • Fluency in a language other than English is a plus, preferably Spanish.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including in multiracial environments.
    • Ability to initiate and follow through on projects.
    • Excellent organizational skills.

Additional Information

This position requires long periods of time at a desk on a computer and includes frequent inter-state travel (when it is safe to do so).
