What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cashier Host position at Railroad Pass Hotel/Steakhouse?
It is the primary responsibility of the Host/Cashier to operate and manage the POS system, including all monetary/credit transactions and comps for the Iron Rail Cafe, Box Car Buffet, and the Steakhouse. The Host/Cashier will seat guests, accordingly, accommodating when possible, and assisting with special needs while providing courteous and prompt service to all guests.
- Greets and seats guests in a gracious manner and distributes business among Food Servers equally and fairly as possible.
- Monitors guests that are seated, and immediately responds to guest's needs or requests.
- Also, assists with bussing tables and beverage service when necessary to ensure seamless service.
- May deal with customer complaints or price disputes.
- Handles money and credit transactions.
- Reconciles cash register drawer at the end of working shift; ensures all proper procedures are being followed.
- Cleans and inspects condition of all menus daily.
- Reviews price sheets to note price changes of items in establishment.
- Maintains the proper supplies for the host station.
- Notifies manager on duty of any guest's concerns or complaints.
- Performs all other job-related duties as requested.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain calm in very high-paced and stressful environment.
- Ability to operate a POS system including handling all monetary/credit transactions.
- Ability to access all areas of the facility.
- Working knowledge of computerized cash registers.
- General understanding of food and beverage operations and procedures.
- Physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure.
- Withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending, kneeling, lifting, and carrying items.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Basic math skills.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
Preferred:
- Previous cash handling experience.
- Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
