Job Purpose

The Service Writer is responsible for acting as the first-line, direct point of contact to the customer by answering calls and scheduling and coordinating all service work and parts order entry for machine repairs. The Service Writer’s job creates a trusting relationship with the customer thereby promoting retention and loyalty.
As a RAKA Service Writer, you can expect to:
- Open, process, and close service repair quotes and work orders for all repairs by obtaining accurate details from customers as to the nature of the problem. Secure service manager approval, if needed.
- Verify warranty and service contract coverage. Inform customers of any needed services, recalls, DOT inspections due to equipment.
- Ensure parts and service orders are accurate, supportable, and match invoices. Identify add-on sales opportunities and effectively communicates these to the customer and appropriate sales representatives.
- Schedule equipment repairs on work orders by dispatching workflow to shop/field technicians by assessing skills, capabilities, areas of expertise, and work availability schedules to minimize customer downtime and maximize field vs. shop time for field technicians.
- Review work orders submitted by techs checking for errors or omissions. Reviews parts detail on service calls to ensure parts are posted and nothing remains on backorder or reservation.
