What are the responsibilities and job description for the Steel Packager position at Ramp Inc?
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To package and band produced material, to weigh material and enter on order and move material to shipping floor.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Packages and bands material on the carousel.
- Discharges / packages material to the weigh scale.
- Enters weights and applies tags to finished product.
- Operates lift truck to move skidded products for storage.
- Operates crane to unload turnstiles and move product to storage.
- Updates material locations using the scan gun.
- Retrieves skids / paper as required.
- Completes daily inspection reports for lifting equipment as required.
- Reports any maintenance issues.
- Works with operator and assistant to secure and remove scrap.
- Helps maintain safety standards and good housekeeping in work areas.
- Assists with various other duties as directed by the Line Leader / Operator / Assistant and trains new employees as required.
- Follows and adheres to Procedures, Work Instructions and Forms that pertains to job.
- When performing banding duties or handling scrap material; safety glasses and arm protection must be worn.
- Slitter, coil car, turnstiles, scrap bailer, computer, console and print-out, transfer horn, coil up-ender, “C” hook (crane), cables (crane), lift truck, micrometer, tape measure, vernier, calipers and x-ray machine.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school education or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Previous work experience would be an asset.
- English spoken and written required
