Ranch Hope is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide nursing care to the youth in our Residential Treatment program. Since 1964 Ranch Hope has provided healing to youth from the state of New Jersey in a therapeutic setting. As a member of our clinical team, you will provide valuable support to assist youth in meeting their treatment goals. We utilize the Nurtured Heart Approach and trauma informed care while working on the individual goals of each youth.
The schedule for this position will be Wednesday to Saturday 12:00 pm-10:00 pm. A complete job description is listed below:
Knowledge:
- Advanced knowledge in providing nursing care to adolescent patients that have experienced trauma
- Understanding of psychotropic medications
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Programs to include Excel, Word, and Outlook

Duties & Responsibilities:
· Support program goals by serving as an excellent and compassionate role model
· On a daily basis visit each treatment unit to provide as needed triage and care and review/assess medical records and supplies
· Administer medication to youth as needed
· Assume responsibility for medication delivery, medication changes to Medication Administration Records, cleaning and checking medication cabinet, supply inventory and ordering
· Provide triage and referral in response to emergencies
· Administer immunizations and Mantoux tests
· Assist in responding to and de-escalating crisis situations
· Attend weekly treatment team meetings
· Provide weekly medical education to youth
· Provide medication training to staff
· Complete appropriate reports to document unusual events
· Assist with transporting to the hospital and/or urgent care as needed.
· Send out medical information as requested by agencies
· Send out reminders for labwork, NPO, etc.
· Complete new patient information forms
· Prepare appointment forms (med/dental)
· Submit monthly supply order to APN and follow-up on pending shipments
· Complete daily MAR checking
· Ensure biannual dental visits and physicals are scheduled
· Provide assistance with new admission paperwork and chart set-up
· Serve as on-call support for medical concerns (may include weekend and off hours to ensure continual coverage)
· Complete monthly MAR and distribute to cottage
· Provide new employee training on bloodborne pathogens, first aid and medication management
· Participate in safety searches as required and in accordance with Ranch Hope policy
· Assemble medication for therapeutic home visits
· Support the implementation of electronic medical records
Education & Professional Experience:
· Associates or Bachelors Degree in Nursing
· Three years nursing experience
· One year experience working with adolescents
Certifications/Licenses Required:
- NJ RN License
- NJ Driving License
- CPR certification
Physical Abilities:
· Hearing and speaking to exchange information
· Seeing to read a variety of materials
· Dexterity of the hands and fingers to operate medical equipment, medications, keyboard and office equipment
· Sitting/Standing for extended periods of time
· Walking to and from all campus buildings that house youth
· Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds
· Ability to physically restrain a youth in response to a crisis situation
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $73,000.00 per year
