Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years of experience with substation maintenance, relay/recloser control programming, and testing
- A couple of years of experience is highly preferred and could start at a more experienced level Apprentice Lineman.
- Had courses in electricity, electronics or related areas are useful.
Responsibilities:
- Performs construction, installation, operation, maintenance of substations, substation metering, and observes to ensure proper procedures are adhered to.
- Evaluates substation equipment condition to insure against faulty operation; write switching orders and perform switching as needed.
- Responsible for installing, programming, and maintaining substation SCADA equipment.
- Responds to emergency and trouble calls for power outages, and substation problems/alarms; follow the direction of the Engineering Superintendent and/or the engineers.
- Perform lineman duties on both secondary and primary voltages on energized lines.
- Understand theories of voltage regulation, fault currents, and coordination of line protection devices.
- Construct overhead and underground lines and operate all equipment necessary to complete those tasks.
