Manufacturer in the Cape Girardeau area is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to add to their team. The ideal candidate will have previous manufacturing experience and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Safety, Health and Environmental or similar. Previous leadership or supervisory experience required. Will provide relocation for the right candidate.

responsibilities:

• Work with Supply Chain and Manufacturing teams to develop the Safety, Health & Environmental Strategy and improvement plans in order to reduce injuries, illnesses and environmental impact at the plant
• Drive current and future manufacturing performance in the areas of Safety Compliance, Safety Culture, all while using World Class Manufacturing operating framework.
• Influence senior management and drive safety and environmental leadership through management
• Work closely with Occupational Health personnel to identify and mitigate risks which may lead to occupational ill health
• Assist the site leader to develop and lead the internal crisis and safety committees and advise line management in all accident/incident investigations.
• Lead investigations for safety incidents. Manage all Workers Comp Case Management, Legal Interactions, and doctors appointment.
• Conduct trend analysis from incidents, near misses, safe behavior observations and deep compliance audits
• Develop and deploy internal Safety, Health and Environment auditing and inspection systems; participate in audits
• Reduce the site's environmental impact in the areas of COD, hazardous & non-hazardous waste, SOx & CO2 emissions, water & energy consumption
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Safety, Health, Environmental or similar
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
• Continuous improvement, Process improvement experience
• Excellent analytical skills, organization skills and ability to lead in a fast-paced environment
• Previous Leadership/Supervisory experience in manufacturing
• This is a day shift role but flexibility is needed to handle on-call emergencies in a 24/7 operation
