job summary:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the accounting/finance department completes the monthly financial close, reporting, annual budgeting, and other duties timely and accurately. Supervises and direct Sr. Accountant(s), Staff Accountant(s) and Client Specialist(s) as needed.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· High level of responsibility for development and supervision of staff.
· Responsible for Balance Sheet reconciliations and review.
· Key Relationship Manager with clients
· Key collaborator with cross functional teams and other departments
· Direct various projects (i.e. new client implementations, internal control formulation and implementation, process improvements, workflow efficiencies etc.)
· Responsible for preparation and/or review of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, financial reports for management and clients, various other financial analysis including cashflow statement.
· Coordinate with Supervisor to reconcile subsidiary ledgers to trial balances each period
· Assist with managing and completion of monthly and year-end closings including preparation and/or review of journal entries.
· Assist management with annual budget preparation as needed.
· Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
· Investigate, resolve and escalate any non-standard GL transactions
· Assist with annual corporate audit to ensure accurate, on-time reporting at year-end
· Prepare and or review weekly dashboard reporting
· Responsible for clean hand-off of all financial statements for external distribution and provide assistance with variance analysis
· Assist with development, implementation, and execution of goals, policies & procedures, KPIs, and operational reporting for Accounting Department
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Display a high degree of expertise in obtaining critical information from clients
· Knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
· Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel functions and Sage Intacct
