General Summary:
Purchases materials, tools, and equipment to support plant operations and other departments as required. Distributes materials, tools, and equipment as authorized and maintains inventories and internal controls for all locations. Prepares requisitions for materials, tools, and equipment, within budgetary authority. Coordinates with engineering and plant departments and contractors for job specific material needs. May negotiate returns of defective materials and equipment. Maintains a clean and secure environment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Purchases materials, tools, and equipment to support plant and other Company operations. Reviews material request forms to determine items needed for purchase. Prepares requisitions within budget authority for materials, tools, and equipment.
- Coordinates with Procurement Supervisor to supply materials for contractors.
- Follows purchase order procedures to ensure correct accounting records are provided for work order and inventory control requirements.
- Verifies, receives, and distributes materials to appropriate locations. May contact vendors and supply points for information concerning the status of purchase orders and stock balances as well as investigates discrepancies. If delegated by Procurement Supervisor, may negotiate returns of defective material, tools and equipment as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining stock of daily consumables.
- Responsible for claims associated with freight damages and losses.
- Maintains accurate inventory records and internal controls.
- Conducts physical inventory of local and remote warehouses and yards for the purpose of verifying quantities, entering data count and item adjustments to financial system, and preparing required reports.
- Responsible for security of company materials, tools and equipment located at warehouse.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the warehouse along with performing land and building maintenance as requested for all locations.
- Assists in the administration, coordination, and inspection of the organization’s fleet of motor vehicles and construction equipment. Maintains accurate records of vehicles and equipment. Schedules repairs or preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Ensures all vehicles and equipment are properly cleaned, always maintained and ready for operation. Register and license vehicles and equipment and keep inspections up to date.
- Arranges for maintenance of buildings and grounds of Forsyth facilities.
- Maintains files of purchases, vendors, and catalogs to ensure availability of information.
- Recommends stocking methods of new items or slow-moving material.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned by management. *
