What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Technician position at Rapoport Pharmacy?
Answer the pharmacy telephone.
Handle questions that do not require a pharmacist's professional expertise or judgment.
Receive written prescriptions or telephone refill requests from patients.
Gather information needed to prepare prescriptions.
Record information needed before prescriptions can be dispensed.
Store written prescription forms after prescriptions are dispensed.
Enter data into the computer.
Help pharmacists prepare prescriptions by counting or pouring medications, labeling containers
and pricing prescriptions.
Keep pharmacy department supplies well stocked.
Place completed prescriptions in the Pick-Up area.
Order, check-in, and stock pharmacy department shelves with medications when they arrive
from the distribution centers and jobbers.
Prepare insurance claims, verify coverage with providers and contact patient regarding their
insurance.
Help patients locate over-the-counter section of the pharmacy department.
Ring purchases on cash registers and record them in logs when necessary.
Perform housekeeping duties within the pharmacy department.
Offer counseling by the pharmacist.
Generate tax statements, receipts or reprint of labels from the computer.
Phone patients to pick up “will call” prescriptions.
Preparation of paperwork from reports, invoices and transfers.
