Our passion for great food began in 1975 when Ray Rastelli, Jr. opened a butcher shop called the Meat Stop in Deptford, NJ. He loved bringing quality meat to Deptford-area families so much, within a few years his brother Tony joined him and opened a second Meat Stop, and together they went on to open a total of eight more around South Jersey. Together with their families, they transformed the stores into a growing business that allows them to serve the same great, quality products to families around the country.

About the Role

The Produce Associate will play a pivotal role in maintaining a vibrant and well stocked produce section that meets the highest standards.

Your passion for fruits and vegetables, coupled with exceptional customer service, will shape the shopping experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting customers with produce inquiries and providing excellent service
• Stocking and replenishing produce displays, shelves, and refrigerated cases
• Ensuring freshness, appealing visuals, and proper labeling of all produce
• Rotating produce to prioritize the sale of fresher items
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the produce section, including cleaning and sanitizing equipment and surfaces
• Monitoring and recording temperatures, taking necessary actions
• Collaborating with the store team for overall cleanliness and organization
• Assisting in receiving and verifying produce deliveries, and verifying quantities and quality of products
• Following all food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure the highest standards of food handling and storage are being met
• Providing input and suggestions for improvements to the produce selection, displays, and customer experience

Qualifications

Position requires availability to work at least 1 day out of each weekend (Saturday or Sunday)

• Preferred experience in a produce or grocery store setting
• Passion for fresh produce and eagerness to learn about diverse fruits and vegetables
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physical ability to manage tasks like lifting and carrying heavy produce
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 37.5 per week
