What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maritime Logistics Specialist - RAVAGO INTERNATIONAL position at Ravago Americas?
Purpose of Role:
Responsible for obtaining and maintaining import and foreign to foreign short term and spot rates to fulfill Ravago’s import and foreign to foreign needs. Also responsible for carrier selection and planning of import and foreign to foreign shipments while ensuring they move along seamlessly through the work process established by the company. Manage communication with shipping lines and freight forwarders to ensure shipments are processed in a timely manner in compliance with local regulations.
Key Areas of Accountability:
Obtain and manage short term and spot rates for ocean carriers and freight forwarders for existing lanes and new lanes as requested.
Track and communicate short term and spot rates to the commercial and operational teams.
Understand and develop strategies that help align commercial needs with partner capabilities.
Manage capacity and commitments with ocean carriers and freight forwarders, ensuring optimal resource utilization taking into consideration the fluctuating nature of the commodities market.
Decide the most cost effective ocean carrier for the requested import and foreign to foreign shipments received from customer service.
Obtain ocean booking with ocean carriers and freight forwarders within the time constraints of the customer.
Act as a direct contact for internal stakeholders such as the Import and Foreign to Foreign teams, keeping them informed of potential delays.
Enable business continuity by promoting cross training with other members of the team.
Participate in backup and load balancing process among members of the International Transportation Team during periods of high workload, vacation and time off.

Knowledge/Education
A four-year college degree and/or education and experience equivalent to be determined by Management
Certified Export Specialist (CES) or equivalent certification desirable
Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Detail oriented, ability to prioritize and multitask efficiently
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Fluent in Spanish a plus
Special Role Requirements
Must quickly gain knowledge of sailing options / routes from origin ports to designated destination countries/ports
Must possess excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
