Project Manager

aven is looking for motivated, creative, and organized individuals with a passion for creating experiential events. The ideal candidate should have:

• Experience leading and building projects in Scenic Fabrication shops or other Custom Fabrication industries.
• Confidence in organizing and executing projects on tight timelines.
• Experience creating and managing schedules
• Ability to organize projects into streamlined, simplified series of tasks
• High-level problem solving, highly adaptable in dynamic settings
• Detailed knowledge and experience working with: Carpentry, Metal work and Welding, CNC Milling, 3D printing, Finish Work, Audio/Video/Lighting Integration, Printing Techniques and Vinyl Installation, Scaffolding & Ballasting, Rigging, Electrical and Wiring, Heavy Equipment
• Expertise in one or more of the above fields, especially Carpentry and Metal Work
• Eagerness to Collaborate, to hear and implement others’ ideas and to effectively communicate their own ideas to others.
• Digital Communication skills (email, Slack, Project Management Software like Buildertrend, Asana or Procore, Google Suite, Microsoft Office)
• Ability to effectively lead three or more projects simultaneously.
• Willingness and skill to perform aspects of the fabrication work themselves
• Ability to understand and mark-up detailed Shop Drawings.
• Ability to manage large, multi-faceted teams including specialists in different fields
• Ability to communicate with and has respect for people from many backgrounds
• Patient Teaching skills based on a well of experience
• Basic engineering principles and Material properties and strengths
• Extensive knowledge of various hardware
• Comfort working at heights and able to lift 50 lbs overhead
• Eagerness to learn new skills and techniques
• Training in Safety Best Practices
• Candidates will need their own transportation and personal tools

Experience:

• Custom Fabrication Shop, Scene Shop, Film Sets or similar: 5 years required, 7 years preferred
• Project Management: 3 years required, 5 years preferred
• Teaching Experience a plus!
