Position overview -
Supporting our customer in Tampa, FL the selected candidate will be a part of a dynamic, multi-disciplined team, building, implementing, and maintaining customer systems/networks on our Virtualized Data Center Node for Combatant Commands. The Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the day-to-day server virtualization services. Provides support for Networking, Storage, and Configuration Management with ability to reach the enterprise SMEs in these areas.
Duties include:
- Responsible for the day-to-day support of server, app, or desktop virtualization and VDC node
- Responsible for documenting the configuration of VDC infrastructure
- Perform routine audits and general health checks of systems and software
- Responsible for Microsoft Windows Servers operating in a virtual environment
- Assessment and optimization of the virtualization systems
- Work with Development Team to plan, install and configure new hardware and software for enterprise solutions
- Maintains accurate and comprehensive documentation diagrams of the enterprise server infrastructure and communications flow and routing
- Perform pro-active support functions and reporting to maintain the integrity of the enterprise virtual environment and business function
- Verifying system security and Information Assurance (IA) posture and Security Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG) compliance of systems on Coalition networks and in the Trace Dev Lab
- Effectively communicate with customers, help desk support personnel and senior technicians
- Identify trends and abnormalities and proactively take steps to prevent performance impacts to virtual environment and business function
- Communicate accurate and useful status reports to management on a weekly basis and during outages
- Support operations for a multi-site systems environment (geographically separated)
- Ability to supporting and implementing server virtualization and high availability clustering
- Ability to implementing and troubleshooting vCenter and Virtual Machines
- Capable to troubleshooting of Hypervisors and Resource pool related issues
- Extensive knowledge of MS Windows Server (2012 R2, 2016, 2019) environments and be able to build, configure, and maintain
- Ability to apply sound troubleshooting methodology to isolate and resolve root cause of reported issues
- Knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP in the virtual environment, including VLANs, routing and virtual switches
- Willing and available to travel up to 10% during times of implementation
- Willing and available for on-call support
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Position requires a minimum of five (5) years of direct experience, in the last seven years
- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Network Engineering, Math).
- With at least ten years of general experience of which eight years is directly related experience, a degree is not required.
- Certified in Microsoft Professional 2012R2, 2016, or 2019 OS, or VMware Professional
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification
- Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret w/SSBI clearance is required
- Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required
Desired Skills:
- PowerShell scripting experience
- Experience with Cisco ASR/ASA, or virtual firewall appliances is a big plus
- Experience in the implementation of cross domain solutions
- Strong understanding of the technology as well as hands on experience deploying VMware NSX
- Strong experience with Enterprise level VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure implementation and development
- Knowledge of Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Scientific Linux) and be able to build, configure, and maintain via Command Line Interface (CLI)
- Excellent understanding of open-source frameworks, with experience deploying various open-source packages and/or application stacks into sponsor's production landscape
- Understanding of configuration management systems (e.g. Puppet, Chef, vCM) and concepts behind mass configuration
- ITIL Foundations Certification
- Strong understanding of Enterprise Architecture and its supporting processes and tools
- Experience in implementing and troubleshooting Virtual Networking configurations
- Experience in implementation of CENTRIXS networks and supporting infrastructure
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Other Requirements:
Must be fully vaccinated with the COVID vaccine.
Required Security Clearance:
Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret/SSBI with the ability to obtain TS/SCI eligibility

Working Conditions:
Business work hours are from Monday through Friday, (day shift) 40-hour week
