Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

Position Overview:

Military Engines Quality is seeking a Program Quality Manager for Military Development Programs.  This is an exciting opportunity to support the next generation of engines for Pratt & Whitney Military Engines.

This role affords the opportunity to engage cross-functionally with Program Management and all support functions, at multiple organization levels, as well as the U.S. Armed Services, other defense contractors and suppliers.  Candidates should be ready to take on a challenging but rewarding leadership position.  Candidates should have exceptional spoken/ written communication skills, data and project management skills, and should be prepared to team regularly with multiple disciplines.

Candidates should have a solid knowledge of the P&W Quality Management System.  Knowledge of Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction (TMRR) and Engineering & Mfg Development (EMD) is a strong plus as the majority of this business supports IPD Phases 0 through 3.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate as quorum member of the Integrated Program Management Team (IPMT), collaborating across the Quality Organization for issue resolution and consultation.
  • Provide Quality leadership supporting implementation of Advanced Product Quality Planning, Manufacturing Readiness and execution of the Integrated Program Deployment (IPD) requirements, including the establishment of program quality metrics.          
  • Participate in escapes management process for critical program quality issues ensuring correct departments/disciplines are engaged in root cause determination, suspect population identification and development of appropriate field action including proper communication within the IPMT and external customers for ground test, flight test, production deliveries, and field concerns.
  • Advocate on behalf of the customer, acting as the Quality customer interface championing contract flow down, closure of high impact issues and product escapes, and systemic quality improvement.  
  • Drive maintenance (or creation) of quality management system and Quality Programs Plans to ensure program objectives, government, and customer quality related requirements are satisfied.
  • Ensure applicable Program Passports are scheduled in line with the Engine Development Plan (EDP) and the IPD process. Monitor the IPMT's compliance to Program Management Instructions.
  • Review and propose changes to P&W’s Quality Management System to support changes required with new and revised business agreements and ensure implementation of customer and supplier/partner quality plans which foster the achievement of program office delivery, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Identify and drive process improvement activities within the P&W and Supply Chain manufacturing environments based on quality and performance metrics.  Engage cross functional teams in execution of the EDP to ensure development engines and services meet Customer quality expectations and requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical, Business, or Quality Field/Trade and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in in Engineering, Technical, Business, or Quality Field/Trade and minimum 7 years’ related experience
  • 7 plus years of experience within aerospace programs, quality, or engineering
  • Must have an Active DoD Secret-Level Clearance or be able to obtain it once candidate starts in the position
  • US citizenship required due to government contracts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or Advanced Degree in Engineering, Technical, Business, or Quality Field/Trade is preferred for this role
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and customer focus
  • Sound business judgment, strong organization, leadership, interpersonal, communications, and presentation skills
  • A broad knowledge of the quality, engineering, procurement, & manufacturing disciplines
  • Assertive and results-oriented combined with situational problem solving skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of organizational management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SAP, and other P&W decision management systems
  • High energy, dynamic individual who strives for continuous improvement using ACE Tools
  • Ability to travel domestic - 10% annually
