Position Description: Human Resources

Position Overview
Reporting to the CFO and President, The Human Resources Manager (HRM) oversees all Human Resources including,
Recruitment & Retention, Team Member Relations, Development, and Orientation. Manages Compensation, Benefits,
Performance Evaluations. The HRM ensures compliance with Human Resources policies, procedures, and practices, as well as applicable federal, state, and local laws. The ideal candidate will be resourceful and have excellent communication, leadership skills and demonstrate a character reflecting our companies established values.

Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed)

- Consult with and support Managers and Team Members in areas such as performance management, Team Member relations, and organizational effectiveness. Establish, cultivate, and maintain ongoing relationships with leadership to understand specific needs.

- Manage the recruiting process including advertising, reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, reference and background checks, drug screens, attending job fairs, involvement with local memberships, schools, and misc. other programs. Work with Management to ensure execution of strategic hiring plan in conjunction with hourly and temporary worker headcount needs.

- Assist in implementing strategic goals, objectives, and on-going continuous improvement of existing systems and processes. Report on and analyze trends related to HR metrics, initiatives, and practices.

- Ensure job descriptions for all positions are accurate and up to date.

- Participating in disciplinary and termination meetings & conduct exit interviews. Take part in unemployment insurance hearings

- Ensure HR policies and procedures are followed, provide guidance on relations issues, and serve as a liaison between Team Members and Management. Communicate various HR policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations. Work closely with Safety Director on training setup, workers compensation claims, and the safety & health of employees.

- Review and maintain tracking system and reporting Team Member attendance, FMLA request and usage.

- Serve as a resource on federal, state, and local employment law and apply knowledge appropriately in day-to-day work.

- Consult with CFO and legal counsel to ensure that policies are applied consistently and comply with federal and state law.

- Partner with management to coach and counsel Team Member relations issues that may arise and to proactively work with the organization to ensure retention and overall satisfaction of employees. Effectively responds to employee issues such as complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights complaints.

- Actively participates in management and staff communications meetings. Proactively addresses company needs and ensures the organization’s vision/goals/activities are communicated.

- Review and make recommendations to Senior Management on proposed changes to company policies, procedures, and other HR practices. Helping to maintain the employee handbook of any policy or procedure changes.

- Continually review and assess all processes within the HR function and consider new ways of doing things more efficiently, effectively, at the same or lower cost.

Qualifications: Highly detail-oriented, able to work both independently and as a team player, multi-task, enjoy interfacing with other staff at all levels. Experience in the construction industry is helpful but not necessary.

- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.

- At least 2 years HR experience managing an HR Department. Previous experience in a multi-state environment is a plus

- HR certification preferred (PHR, SHRM)

Technical Skills:

- Knowledge of federal and state employment law

- Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; accounting software

- Excellent verbal & written communication, as well as excellent customer service skills

- Demonstrate critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze and interpret issues and respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints

- Working knowledge of Health Plans, Risk Management, Worker’s Compensation, as well as State and Federal employment guidelines including EEOC, FLSA, ERISA, OSHA, etc.

- Position may require occasional travel. Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, and off shift. Position may require on-call duty or overtime due to overall responsibility.

Pay: From $46,410.00 per year
