R&D Operations is the R&D function responsible for products once they are launched on the market. The teams are based around the globe, working closely with R&D category development teams, supply, procurement, and commercial teams to identify and deliver projects to protect the existing business in addition to increasing the profitability of our products through cost saving programs.
The role of an associate in R&D Operations is to plan, manage and implement functional specific work associated with infant and child nutrition projects and portfolios, delivering complex projects, solving technical problems and recommending options to ensure that milestone plans are met.. SCOPE / DIMENSIONS OF ROLE
* Proficient in handling complex technical development concepts with strong database and designing techniques
* R&D support of a designated range of products with the key goal of protecting the business through resolution of technical challenges and creating/simulating cost saving initiatives to increase profitability whilst achieving desired quality and safe product.
* Contribute to team KPI in driving technical gap analysis, trainings & alignments across the global R&D Ops team
* To work with partners (supply, regulatory, nutritional science, PMO, legal, Marketing, Category R&D) to deliver projects/solutions across the infant and child nutrition portfolio
* To formulate and implement portfolio improvement and maintenance strategies across infant and child nutrition.
* Responsible for various technologies.
* Working with 3rd parties as needed to progress projects
RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide Strategic direction to the team in order to:
* Support the development & line management to your team.
* Deliver technical projects, ensuring that activities are executed to the standards required for the relevant product classification.
* Ensure all required formulation, feasibility work, analysis, validation, stability testing, industrial trials and dossier preparation are performed on time and to the required quality and regulatory standards and in line with the RB processes
* Generate and approve data which supports product changes to a standard required by RB and to meet regulatory authority standards
* Support the wider Health team with respect to required activities that support operations in shared laboratories
* Develop knowledge and expertise to provide support for a given product portfolio
* Support the team the delivery of KPIs
* Support laboratory leadership to maintain working standards
* Maintain team compliance with RB working practices e.g. change management
KEY CHALLENGES
* Delivering multiple projects across a number of brands and technology platforms
* Prioritization of personal workload and that of direct reports
* Liaison with colleagues across the global R&D Operations community to provide technical support.
* Provision of a fast paced scientific service to demanding customers with challenging timelines.
* Flexible to travel for delivery for execution of projects and working across time zones as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
* Educated to Degree level (Food/Nutritional Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other relevant science)
EXPERIENCE
* Minimum 2-3 years R&D experience with a proven track record of delivery
* Understanding of nutritional and food science or similar
* An excellent technical problem solver
* Experience of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting large amounts of data using analytical and statistical skills
* Experience of working with multiple partners to deliver success
* Experience with resource planning and prioritization desirable
* Experience of generating technical documentation and reports to support product registration
