About the job:
The Red Hat Developer and DevTools Engineering team is looking for a Director to join us. In this role, you will help Red Hat define the future of the open hybrid cloud experience built around Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift. You’ll work with multiple director and vice president-level stakeholders while building an experience that will delight developers and connect them with the rest of the Red Hat portfolio. You’ll need to be a leader with a proven record of navigating the complexities of working across multiple organizations, helping define and gain consensus on strategy and direction, and aligning the teams toward the defined end goals. This is a remote role that will involve managing a global team. Candidates based in the U.S. Central and Eastern Standard Time or Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) time zones are preferred, as that is where most of our associates are located.
What you will do:
- Lead a global developer and DevTools-focused team with an experience-driven mindset

Understand and disseminate company and business organizational strategy into organizational objectives

Work with stakeholders throughout Red Hat to align on strategy and its implementation

Create an environment for open source community leadership

Instill in the team an understanding of our customer needs in sales and support
What you will bring:
- Ability to foster a high-performing engineering team at both the leadership and associate levels

Communication skills and experience in interacting with cross-functional business and medium to large engineering teams

Understanding of the capabilities of current software development tools and ability to quickly learn new ones including IDEs, developer-focused CLIs, Git, build systems, continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) systems, containers, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, Tekton, Istio, Knative, and serverless or Function-as-a-Service (FaaS) technologies

Motivated with initiative in seeing needs, building functionality, and leading insights for organizational change

Ability to develop a detailed understanding of our business requirements

Previous experience with the life cycles of our offerings or delivering on-premises software, client tooling, and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offerings
