The Red Hat Ansible Community team is looking for a Principal Software Community Engineer to join us. In this role, you will work as part of a team focused on flourishing our amazing upstream community. The Ansible ecosystem is always growing and expanding. We want you to be part of the team that engages and keeps this community vibrant. As a Principal Software Community Engineer, you will be acting as a leader who serves and assists to ensure the community has all the needed resources to be a successful, healthy self-driven one. You will be expected to grow this community through finding, mentoring, and promoting community members to key roles. Your technical background will make you a key advisor for continuous integration (CI), packaging, and collections changes.

What you will do

• Grow and improve the health and autonomy of the Ansible community; be a leader and assist the community with their needs
• Take part in designing and implementing the community’s policies and procedures
• Mentor new contributors, find and promote contributors to maintainers, and mentor new maintainers
• Be an active advisor on technical changes that impact the community as a whole
• Be involved in releasing artifacts that the Ansible community provides
• Continuously promote Ansible as a technology in the open source community

What you will bring

• Passion for open source and its philosophy
• Experience working with upstream communities
• Great communication, interpersonal, and emotional intelligence skills
• Experience with a programming language like Python, Ruby, etc.
• Experience with mentoring individuals
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English

Experience with the following is considered a plus:

• Familiarity with Ansible and its ecosystem
• Experience with CI systems and version control (Git)
• Good record of open source projects contributions
• Public speaking and outreach experience
