Overnight Licensed Practical Nurse

Canopy Cove is a premier eating disorder facility in Tallahassee, FL treating adolescent girls & adult women. We are actively interviewing for a Overnight Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our outstanding team at our state-of-the-art programs. 

The LPN at our Residential location provides routine direct and indirect client care. This position helps support the Lead Nurse or staff on the scheduled shift & complete tasks as assigned by the Lead Nurse or tasks that are a part of their job duty. The LPN will support clients within the milieu, observe groups, provide meal support as needed, document in the client’s chart/MAR & carry out medical tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• LPN (License in state of Florida)
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Phlebotomist's skills preferred but not required.
• Basic computer knowledge
• Experience in mental health or eating disorders is preferred but not required
• Working conditions Canopy Cove Nursing staff will work 12-hour shifts unless otherwise noted by the Lead Nurse. Residential operates 24/7 & therefore we always need staff in-house. 
• Physical requirements Walk up/downstairs Ability to lift 25 lbs.

Duties and responsibilities

• Communicate clearly & appropriately to RN on shift and/or the Lead Nurse regarding changes in a client’s medical condition

• Receive and handoff report at shift change

• Administer scheduled/PRN medication ordered by physician & accurately document in MAR, in accordance with any state and federal regulations and consistent with facility policy

• Must demonstrate knowledge of the “seven rights” of medication administration • Follow current standards of hygiene, safety and infection control when handing, storing, and disposing of medications

• Support and maintain a culture of safety and quality

• Assist with admission under supervision of RN

• Provide medical attention to clients and assess their wellbeing

• Obtain and document blind weight, vital signs & urine specific gravity

• Lab work if applicable

• Daily client chart checklist, document and notify Lead Nurse with any discrepancies

• Notify Lead Nurse of client’s medication refill needs when seven days are left • Complete inventory of medical supplies and/or stock medications

• Proper cleaning and storage of medical equipment following every shift & document • Daily temperature check on medication refrigerator, & document

• Assist team with daily schedule/assignments within scope of practice • Read provider notes & client updates in the EHR at the beginning of every shift

• Document notes during/end of every shift,

• Email nursing team shift report • Assist program staff with tasks such as helping with meal support, milieu, observing groups, bathroom observations & morning/evening routine

• Follow & implement policies and procedures on every shift
