SUMMARY
Manages all Materials-related functions including but not limited to: Purchasing, Production Scheduling, Inventory Control, and Global Sourcing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the purchasing and inventory control functions in order to meet on time delivery goals and other company metrics (quality, delivery, cost).
- Requisitions material and establishes sequential delivery dates to departments, according to job order priorities and material availability.
- Examines material delivered to production departments to verify conformance to specifications.
- Computes amount of material required to complete job orders.
- Compiles and maintains manual or computerized records such as material inventory, in process production reports, and status and location of materials within the ERP/MRP system.
- Provide support to production scheduling on all material flow issues to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
- Utilize Kanban and other "Lean Manufacturing" techniques to improve inventory turns and total working capital management.
- Work closely with other departments such as Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing on new product development and other related projects.
- Reviews visual schedules and related information to coordinate the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments.
- Conducts FAS (Final Assembly Schedule) meetings with sales (frequency to be determined by Materials Manager and Business Unit Manager).
- Other projects and duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements
- BA/BS Degree in Materials or Business Management or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- 4 Years Materials Management Experience as a Purchasing Agent, Planner/Scheduler, Planner/Buyer, or Master Scheduler in manufacturing environment (preferably machining).
APICS (CPIM and CPM) certifications preferred. - Prior knowledge of and experience with continuous improvement tools (lean manufacturing techniques, rate based planning, Kanban replenishment, etc.) is preferred.
- Prior experience in a low volume metalworking, CNC & manual machine shop environment is preferred.
