This role functions as the subject matter experts in the domain of specialized low and medium voltage switchgear products, viewed from the standpoint of field services. In your capacity as a Switchgear Application Specialist, you represent the primary and initial point of contact tasked with the duties of aiding, supporting and educating internal and external field service groups. Furthermore, you will spearhead interactions with the company's engineering departments with regards to field service technical matters. Your responsibilities encompass offering technical assistance to both the service crew and clients in matters related to diagnosing issues, commissioning, data gathering, and executing maintenance activities on switchgears, as well as other fundamental Thomson Power Systems products.
YOUR MISSION
Support Field Service Technicians tasked with commissioning, troubleshooting, testing, commissioning and maintenance of any of low and medium voltage switchgear products.
Ability to provide technical support over the phone or in-person at site to field service team by following a scientific step-by-step process to troubleshooting equipment issues. Captures data and troubleshooting steps concisely and accurately to facilitate effective communication to internal and external parties.
Provide technical support for customers on switchgear products in the Service Ticketing System.
Develop the Method of Procedure (MOP) guideline for each site trip/project implementing a change to the existing system by the Service Team on any Thomson Power Systems products.
Implement ongoing improvement and update on Service Forms and work instructions.
Communicate with Product Engineering/Design Teams with regards to important product bulletins that would affect service, software upgrades, product upgrades or maintenance factors.
Provide and deliver technical training programs for customers and/or employees on new and existing products.
Provide assistance and support to the Technical Call Desk, Coordinators and other cross functional teams addressing customer inquiries and issues.
Ensure comprehensive understanding and compliance with all company policies, emphasizing adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations.
Build, develop and maintaining exemplary customer and vendor relationships while maintaining a high level of quality and technical service.
As required, participate in factory witness/shop testing.
Works directly with 3rdparty equipment vendors to help resolve re-occurring issues with vendor equipment within Thomson Power Systems' integrated products.
Provide feedback on issues found in the field by Service Technicians to Manufacturing and Engineering regarding whether quality control or design criteria and product specifications.Work with production and engineering teams to help resolve any deficiencies that are found.
Work with the Field Service Supervisor in scheduling field resources to cover service needs.
Travel to sites and provide in-person technical support to Field Service technician when required.
Other duties as assigned.
ARE YOU THE ONE?
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
A Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering or equivalent.
10 years of technical experience in the Power Generation Industry (or similar industry)
5 years of hands-on experience installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, upgrading and retrofitting electrical distribution systems including, LV and MV switchgear, ATSs, automation controls and back-up power systems
Past Field Service work history with an OEM or reputable service company: (ASCO, Eaton, Schneider, Siemens, Russ electric, Power Pro-Tech, Zenith, Cummins, CAT, etc.)
Responsible, self-motivated, exemplary work ethic, excellent time management and strong interpersonal skills
Exceptional Technical written and verbal communication skills
Must be a team player and have ability to interface with various levels of management and cross functional teams
Ability to multitask and ensure follow-up on multiple competing priorities
Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Knowledge of PLC and HMI programming and applications (Allen Bradley, GE Automation, Omron, Wonderware, Indusoft, Red Lion, etc.)
Advanced understanding and ability to interpret detailed electrical and mechanical schematics and ladder logic programs
Ability to work independently
Ability to travel if need be
