What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material supervisor position at Regal Rexnord?
SUMMARY :
Working closely with Material Manager in developing relationships with vendors and negotiating purchasing agreements, the Materials Supervisor purchases materials for use at plant locations in the manufacturing and / or assembling of products resulting in manufacturing and / or sales improvements as well as improvements in cost, quality and delivery.
Responsible for raw material processes including procurement through Kanban, Plan for Every Part (PFEP), Warehouse layout, and audit processes which are necessary to support production requirements across value streams.
Maintain dotted line relationships with Material Handling and Receiving department.
Supervisory duties include Shipping / Receiving department.
This is an onsite role located in Columbia City, IN.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Duties include but are not limited to :
Maintain and develop vendor relationships / partnerships
Help to develop and implement cost savings ideas with suppliers
Participate in continuous improvement activities in both Purchasing and Shipping / Receiving.
Coordinate and implement supplier managed inventory programs and / or Kanban
Interacts with Product Engineering for new products / projects and Engineering changes.
Assist plant level Materials personnel with vendor and material issues
Expediting, including formal expedites from Customer Service, casual inquiries, checking on past due orders and missed shipments.
Prepare purchase orders and inventory orders. This requires reviewing customer orders to verify specification, pricing, and ensure proper communication of order with vendor.
In addition, reviews lot sizes and purchase cost for inventory orders.
Daily release management and Kanban card execution, including Kanban ordering, reprinting, and tracking cards
Conduct regular analysis to anticipate and resolve potential problems
Mentor Junior Buyer in all Purchasing activities, including supplier communication, internal communications, ordering, report review, etc.
Report out Purchasing and inventory metrics in various team meetings.
Works closely with Customer Service in identifying issues with customer requests.
Owns MTO / Sequence PO processing including reviewing MTO reports and issuing necessary purchase orders.
Process late reports and manage visual tool(s)
Manage milk run schedules and delivery
Process supplier forecast report monthly and adjust Kanban card quantities.
Manage packaging visual management system / Central storage
Own SAP & Access purchasing data files
Assist production with home location identification and overall warehouse customization through PFEP
Supervisory duties include, but not limited to, employee time cards, employee reviews, performance management, maintaining company standards, training, and other leadership duties.
Other raw material related functions may also be assigned
Requirements : High School Diploma
High School Diploma
3 years buying / procurement, inventory management, material handling, or material presentation experience
Previous people leadership or supervisory experience
Proficiency in MS Office suite
Preferred Experience :
Bachelors degree
Previous experience in SAP (ERP)
