SUMMARY

The Assistant Buyer will perform purchasing and inventory control work utilizing database software. The Assistant Buyer is responsible for maintaining a process to track all incoming and outgoing merchandise. Work requires considerable data entry and use of various computer-driven process spreadsheets. Good in person and telephone communication skills. Maintain company confidentiality of sensitive information and data. The Assistant Buyer should be analytically minded and possess excellent merchandising trend skills to secure the proper product for the showrooms. Knowledge of sales and trends is advantageous.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow the Ashley in-stock core assortment by entering purchase orders for import and domestic.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Ashley Market Specialist regarding the status of goods and resolve problematic situations.
  • Communicate significant changes in the performance of SKU’s to Merchandise Manager.
  • Follow specific processes for the balancing and final reduction of stock on end-of-life product.
  • Calculate and update lead times.
  • Communicate significant flow disruptions, overstock, and understock situations to the Merchandise Manager
  • Resolve differences in quantity shipped by supplier and quantity received.
  • Maintain properly balanced inventory by group to reduce odds and ends and maximize sales.
  • Maintain DC receiving schedule with Ashley Corporate.
  • Answer store questions about estimated time of arrival on customer Purchase Orders
  • Other duties as requested

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • 3-5 years previous Planning experience; preferably in a furniture retail environment * Computer literacy experience to include a working knowledge of standard business applications (MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel), in a Windows environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Experience:

  • Procurement: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Purchasing: 1 year (Preferred)
