This position develops multi-modal functional and aesthetic requirements for public infrastructure projects such as park-n-Rides, bridges, buildings, stations, and other structures. Evaluates proposals for modification of physical infrastructure, pre-design, programming, and planning. Develop designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, bid packages, and other technical submissions, and provides construction management support. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: ESSENTIAL: Coordinates functional, urban design and aesthetic considerations in capital improvements with public agencies and private interest groups. Defines requirements (primarily architectural) for stations and transit centers; includes elements such as landscaping, lighting, parking lots and station security. Prepares and facilitates presentations to explain complex issues in a simple manner. Reviews and evaluates the design prepared by other organizations and consultants as well as that of other staff engineers to ensure adequacy, completeness, economy and compliance with applicable design criteria. Designs, specifies and participates in the review and construction management of planted areas, irrigation and hardscape components of pedestrian, parking, bus, rail and other transit facility projects. Manages and administers transit construction contracts involving civil engineering components as well as landscape and urban design, by directing contractors, supervising inspectors, coordinating with affected agencies, exercising quality assurance principles, and administering the budget, schedule and documentation. OTHER: All job-related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, or related field required. Licensing as an Architect or Landscape Architect by the State of Colorado required. A minimum of ten years of experience in planning, designing and managing construction of major public works projects. A minimum of three years of supervisory experience. A minimum of five years of experience working with general municipal zoning regulations and site approval processes. A minimum of five years of experience designing and implementing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements as they relate to architectural accessibility. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to use sound judgment. Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.
