Job Responsibility    


Perform daily warm-up exercises and directs the work of the crew.

• Verify with Ranch Manager which ranch activities are to be performed in different areas of the ranch each day.
• Verify with Ranch Foreman and Crew Leader on whether help is needed with any activities.
• Check the irrigation system and determine the amount and the time it should be watered.
• Connect pipes by tightening manual links.
• Align pipes in a lined order, checking the packaging, pigeons and caps.

Apply fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides to the crops.
 

• When completing irrigation tasks and pipes are being collected, ensure that the sprinkler pipes are securely tied and cautiously drive the tractor with the trailer.

Maintain clean irrigation ditches.
 

• Remove garbage from work areas: roads, fields, container yard and other areas.
• Remove grass from roads, fields, container yard and other areas

Fix cracks found in hoses or pipes.
 

• Check and adjust irrigation drainage.
• Prepare fertilizers for substrate fertilizer tanks.
• Check the PH, and EC from irrigation and drainage water.
• Check the ranch for pests and/or insects.
• Report problems to management.

Support other ranch employees, as needed.

• Job Qualifications   

Knowledge (Include level of expertise) / Conocimiento en (Incluir nivel de dominio):
 

• Understanding of basic water requirements, plant pH (acidic levels), salinity and electrical conductivity (EC) measurements in substrate agricultural crops.
• Understanding of surface irrigation methods, pressurized systems, and various irrigation controllers, including micro irrigation and sprinklers.
• Basic understanding of low voltage electricity.
• Basic mechanical abilities
• Understanding soil/medium-plants-water relationships and how salinity affects irrigation.
